Monitoring after immersion

Generally, after a concrete segment weighing thousands of tonnes is placed on the seabed, the newly-installed structure will need to settle for some time. In the case of tunnels constructed on sand flows, a settlement requirement of 90% must be satisfied before the project team is allowed to start on the final stage.

Our monitoring systems allow for the continuous monitoring of a newly-installed tunnel segment from the moment it is positioned. This monitoring not only covers the unit’s settlement and possible deformation, but also extends to other critical parameters like e.g. air quality, leak detection and jack pressures.

The current state of affairs can be reviewed in e-mail or online reports. In addition, the project team can continuously inspect the tunnel with the aid of camera systems.
